For those with GPS’s you may like to look at Routegadget which allows you to upload your trace over the race map and compare it to other people. Choose the ‘Course’ and select the competitors down the bottom of the list with an * in front of their name. The * indicates that they have uploaded their GPS trace which can be viewed and even replayed head-to-head! Currently (Tuesday 22nd) there are 7 routes posted.

Killa 2009

Organised as “Orienteering Western Australia’s Adventure Race” and Tooms’ first foray into ‘proper’ AR race directing. Starting with a brief activity on foot in John Forrest National Park competitors made their way by MTB to Lake Leschenaultia for another foot activity before riding to the orienteering stage off Flynn Rd. Along the way an aerial photo exercise entirely within a single gravel pit proved a great success! Jen Graham-Taylor lead outright until within the final orienteering stage when Steve Fletcher moved up the field to take a well-deserved victory.

Killa 2008

This resurrected event took the format of 10km ‘Round the Bridges’ run, a road bike ride along the railway cyclepath and then up Great Eastern Highway to Flynn Rd, a short mountain bike ride down Flynn Rd to Abercorn Rd, and a 7km orienteering event. A race report can be found buried in 2008 Results With a handicap start, the entire field came together on the orienteering course before splitting apart again and it came down to a sprint finish between Pete Shanley and John Toomey after 4 and a half hours of racing. John Toomey took the win by two seconds and, as per tradition, his reward was to organise the 2009 event!
