Course Details

Without giving too much away, the Killafergus Challenge will start approx 9 am, 20mins drive from Brunswick Junction.

  • Puzzle solving and/or basic navigation activities to split competitors up.
  • About 30km of mountain biking split into several legs with a few checkpoints to keep you heading in the right direction.
  • There will be some single track but no difficult technical riding.
  • Some basic navigation on foot to break up the mountain biking.
  • An Orienteering course at the end.
  • Full electronic timing.
  • No support crew required.
  • Some maps and a Competitor Information Sheet will be released at registration. Additional maps will be issued at each transition area -it is up to you to waterproof them. Each team will also receive an electonic timing chip. The orienteering course will include a mix of navigational difficulty, it won’t all be technical orienteering navigation although an ability to use a compass and read contours will be useful.

With quite a few newcomers trying out the Killafergus, we thought it a good idea to post a copy of a sample legend so that competitors could become familiar with some of the symbols that may be found on the maps that are distributed throughout the race. Legend_preview
